    7 November 2019
    Dear Madam Speaker,
    Dear Mr. Speaker,
We are pleased to write to you to request your support for a worldwide, youth-led event which aims to
secure change for the most marginalised children in your constituency. On 10th December 2019,
International Human Rights Day, young people around the world are organising a series of meetings with
parliamentarians, from Brazil to Kenya, Brussels to India and Zimbabwe to the United States, as part of
the 100 Million campaign to discuss how we can ensure justice for every child and that no child is left
    behind.
The 100 Million Campaign was co-founded by Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi and welcomed by
parliamentarians around the world during the 136th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in
2017. The IPU is strongly committed to youth empowerment and its youth movement calls for youth-led
initiatives at global and national levels to promote human rights and fair and equitable development for
all. For the past two years the partnership between the 100 Million campaign and the Inter-Parliamentary
Union is one we can all be proud of. We recently met during the United Nations General Assembly in New
York to reaffirm our commitment to stand together to build a better, fairer, more just world.
In the context of the thirtieth (30th) anniversary of the Convention of the rights of the child we are
celebrating this year, we welcome the deep impact of this widely ratified human rights treaty on the lives
of children, spearhead of the future, but also call upon all the concerned actors, including
parliamentarians, to further efforts to take the challenges millions of children are confronted with.
This year we are honoured to be joined by the world’s largest student unions, including the All-Africa
Students’ Union, the European Students’ Union and the Organising Bureau of European School Student
Unions, representing tens of millions of young people across the world. These organisations are
encouraging their own memberships to meet with decision-makers to discuss how we can realise change
for the most marginalised young people.
Parliamentarians have long been a crucial ally for progress, and we are inviting you to continue this
legacy by sharing this information widely among all the MPs in your respective parliaments. MPs will be
invited to a meeting by young people from the campaign, to discuss their demands that every child, in
every community, is free, safe and educated.
MPs may be contacted by local schools, universities and youth groups in the next two months. If you or
any fellow Parliamentarians would like to organise a meeting with youth activists during this time, or wish
to be connected to a school or community taking part in this global action, you can reach out to Owain
James, Global Campaigns Director, at owain@100million.org. For information please visit 100million.org
and please kindly share with us any initiative you may wish to undertake on this occasion.
Young people worldwide are actively engaging in democracy, and we call on your partnership and
leadership to support this by asking your members to participate in dialogue with them in the build up to
and on the 10th December. We hope decision-makers worldwide will hear their passion, be inspired by
their ideas, and be motivated to work together to ensure every child is included, in every community.
    In solidarity and friendship,
Mr. Martin Chungong Mr. Kailash Satyarthi
