    Dear Mr. Timmermans,
On behalf of the Poslaneckâ Snemnovna and Senât of the Czech Republic, the Hrvatski
Sabor of Croatia, the 0rszggyilés of Hungary, the Saeima of Latvia, the Seimas of
Lithuania, the Senato della Repubblica of Italy, the Tweede Kamer and Eerste Kamer of
The Netherlands, the Senat of Poland, the Assembleia de Repûblica of Portugal, the
Camera Deputatilor and Senat of Romania, the Nrodnâ rada of the Slovak Republic and
the House of Commons and House of Lords of the United Kingdom, 1 am pleased to
provide you with an overview of our priorities based on the Commission Work
    Programme 2016.
All but one of the parliamentary chambers mentioned above consider the Energy Union
Package and Better Migration Management as a priority. Additionally, the Circular
Economy Package, review of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020,
implementation of the Digital Single Market Strategy, Labour Mobility Package, European
Bank Deposit Insurance Scheme / Completion of the Banking Union, and Border
Management Package are prioritized by almost all chambers. Some chambers also set
priorities involving REFIT initiatives, but no common thread can be identified.
The intensified contacts of the European Commission with national Parliaments are very
much appreciated. Although national Parliaments can set priorities at any time and
choose their own way to get in touch with the Commission, 1 am convinced that this
overview will further contribute to closer cooperation between Parliaments.

The Work Programme is anchored in the ten political priorities of the Commission and
    * takes forward several key strategies from the 2015 Work Programme, including the
Digital Single Market Strategy, the Energy Union, the Labour Mobility Package, the
European Agenda on Migration, the Capitals Markets Union, the Action Plan for Fair
and Efficient Corporate Taxation, the new Trade Strategy and our proposals to deepen
and strengthen the Economic and Monetary Union.
As was the case last year, this Work Programme prioritises actions under the Regulatory
Fitness and Performance Programme (REFIT) ensuring that EU legislation remains fit
for purpose and delivers the results intended. The Commission has taken note and
welcomes the priorities that several chambers have identified in this regard.
Deepening the Commission's constructive relations with national Parliaments remains a
priority for this Commission and we are looking forward to continuing our political
    dialogue.
    Yoursfaithfully,
    Frans Timmermans
    First Vice-President
