It is my pleasure to invite you to the special meeting of the European Council which will take place
in Brussels on 30 August.
We will start the meeting at 16.00 by the traditional exchange of views with the President of the
European Parliament. I have also invited the President-elect of the European Commission,
Jean-Claude Juncker, for this exchange, which will be followed by our family photo.
At our meeting in July, we held a first debate on the appointments for the next institutional cycle
and agreed to reconvene for a final decision on 30 August. Therefore, our session on floor 80 will
first be devoted to the election of the President of the European Council and the appointment of
the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
